It is important for the ‘Strings Attached’ production to not only leave a lasting musical impression but to also provide a tangible contribution for local charities. Partial proceeds from each concert are donated to a charity that has roots in the community.
For the January 16, 2016 concert in Dothan, Alabama, the Wiregrass Youth Symphony Orchestra were featured. A donation was made to this three level youth symphony. We are very excited about this premier program for the Wiregrass area and we know your child will have a great time learning about music through string instrument playing.
The October 2015 show in Barrie supported Youth Haven. The only youth shelter in Simcoe County, they provide a second chance to approximately 1000 teens annually.
In April 2015 for the show in Hamilton, a donation was made to the Bel Canto Strings Academy who offer affordable music lessons to students of all ages and experience levels. Very special guests from the academy - Chamber Strings - joined Michael and his ensemble for several songs.
In September of 2014 and February of 2015 - Michael began working with the Cambridge Shelter Corp. They have an excellent program to assist with people in transition.
In June of 2012 - Michael teamed up with Mikinduri Children of Hope. They are an incredible organization that focuses their efforts on Kenya. Annually – a group of volunteers go over to concentrate on specific projects.
From 2007 to 2011 – Michael worked with World Vision spreading awareness about the adversity faced by people living in developing countries. From school visits in Thunder Bay and Prince Edward Island - to communities in Saskatoon and Vancouver Island. Informative presentations with songs, video, and the opportunity to get involved coincided with his regular live performances.
